There is sticky note with the word Opt out.

Finding opt-out claims just got easier

Billions of pounds in potential compensation are currently being fought over in UK courts. But most people who could be affected have no idea these cases even exist.

Join the Claim is bringing together the major opt-out collective actions currently underway in the UK and making it easier for consumers to see what claims exist, and whether they could be affected.

You can explore the latest cases here.

Why opt-out claims are easy to miss

Opt-out collective actions work differently from most group claims.

In an opt-out case, eligible consumers are included automatically if they fall within the defined group.

You don’t need to sign up at the start of the case. Instead, if the claim succeeds or settles, there is usually a stage where people need to register to receive their share of the compensation.

But if you don’t hear about the claim, you miss that opportunity.

In some UK cases, fewer than 1% of eligible consumers have gone on to claim their compensation. That means large amounts of compensation can remain unclaimed, even when cases succeed.

A single place to check what cases exist

There is currently no central public hub where consumers can easily see what opt-out collective actions exist in the UK.

Join the Claim is working to close that awareness gap by:

  • Tracking major opt-out collective actions as they move through the courts
  • Explaining what they mean in plain English
  • Signposting people directly to official claim websites and reliable sources.

And we are now bringing this information together in one place so consumers can quickly check whether any cases might apply to them.

Want more details about how the opt-out system works?

We’ve also published a new guide explaining how opt-out collective actions work in the UK and why awareness is such a major challenge.

The guide covers:

  • What opt-out collective actions are
  • Why they exist
  • The difference between opt-out and opt-in group claims
  • How compensation is distributed if a case succeeds
  • Why so many people miss out on claiming.

Closing the awareness gap

Opt-out collective actions were designed to level the playing field between consumers and large corporations. But the system only works if people know the cases exist.

At Join the Claim, our mission is simple: make group actions visible and understandable for the public.

We track major opt-out collective actions, explain what they mean in plain English, and point people to official sources so they can check whether they might be affected. While our list is not exhaustive, we are continually adding new cases as they emerge.

Because collective actions can only deliver real justice if the people they are meant to help actually hear about them.

Join the Claim is not a law firm. We raise awareness of group actions and signpost consumers to official claim websites and trusted sources. For opt-out claims, we are not involved in running the litigation or handling claims. This information is for general guidance only and does not constitute legal advice.
