Overview

The data of some Southern Water customers and employees was breached following an “illegal intrusion” into the company’s IT systems. Criminals stole personal details and financial information, potentially with the intention of selling it on the dark web. The dark web is a hidden part of the internet often used for illicit activities.

Hundreds of thousands of Southern Water customers, and thousands of current and former employees, could be at risk following the cyberattack.
