Join the METROPOLITAN POLICE DATA BREACH claim

Are you affected by the Met data breach?

If so, Join the Claim to get the justice and compensation you deserve.

Last year, cybercriminals managed to access the systems of a supplier to the Metropolitan Police. This happened when Digital ID, a company that makes warrant cards and identification badges was targeted in a ransomware attack.

Digital ID holds a wealth of data about police officers and force employees. Worryingly, lawyers believe this information could now be in the hands of criminals. The breach potentially affected tens of thousands of Met personnel and has raised significant concerns about the safety and security of police officers and staff, especially those in sensitive or undercover roles.

At a glance: what do we know about the Met data breach?

  • Names, ranks, photos, vetting levels, pay numbers, warrant numbers, pass numbers and some geolocation data has been breached.
  • One senior officer said that over 20,000 details, including officer names and photos, are “potentially at risk”.
  • Serving, retired, long term sick and career- break officers and staff who have been employed in the last 3 years could be affected by this breach.

If you are affected by this data breach, you could be due compensation. Many Met officers and civilian employees are making no-win-no-fee claims to get justice for the data protection failure without having to worry about fees.

Metropolitan Police data breach FAQs

The breach was discovered in August 2023 when the Met became aware that data had been compromised due to a security incident involving one of its suppliers, IT services company DigitaID.

The breach involved the unauthorised access and potential theft of personal information, including names, ranks, photos, vetting levels, and pay numbers of Met officers and staff. Some officers may also have had their geolocation data breached.

By now, all affected officers and staff should have been contacted. If you have not received this notification, it is unlikely that you are affected. If you have received notification of your involvement, you could have a NO-WIN, NO- FEE compensation claim.

Our simple eligibility checker provides instant clarity. Answer a few straightforward questions, and you’ll know if you could qualify for a Metropolitan Police data breach group action claim.

It’s complicated! While DigitalID was hacked, all organisations are responsible for the security of their personal data. So lawyers believe that the Met is responsible for failing to protect the sensitive information of officers and staff.

We cannot say how much compensation you might get if you win your data breach case. Each claim is based on its merits and your solicitor will work to get the compensation owed to you.
