Overview

Lawyers are investigating a lawsuit against car dealership group LSH Auto following a mass data breach. LSH Auto was hacked in June 2021, and the data accessed during the cyberattack included HR-related information.

Some employees have accused the company of keeping them in the dark because it did not inform them of the breach for six months.

This delay, they believe, left LSH Auto staff at risk as they were unable to take proactive measures to protect themselves from potential identity theft, fraud, or other malicious activities.

According to some data breach experts, the lack of transparency not only increased the risk of harm but also eroded trust between employees and the company.

We are monitoring the situation closely. Register your interest and we’ll keep you updated if one of our regulated UK partner law firms is able to take this claim forward.

LSH Auto data breach FAQs

In June 2021, LSH Auto UK, a car dealership group, experienced a cyber-attack that compromised the personal data of current and former employees. Hackers gained unauthorised access to the company’s systems, exposing sensitive information. However, employees were not informed of the breach until December 2021, six months after the attack.

After discovering the breach, LSH Auto:

  • Engaged forensic specialists to investigate and secure their systems.
  • Reported the incident to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and the National Cyber Security Centre.
  • Notified affected employees in December 2021, six months after the breach.
  • Offered a dedicated helpline for advice and provided free credit checks to those impacted.

However, the delayed notification left employees vulnerable during the intervening months.
