Overview

ManoMano, the French DIY and home-improvement marketplace, has warned customers that their personal data was accessed in a cyberattack.

The incident was discovered in January 2026 via a third-party customer service provider. ManoMano has reported the breach to France’s data protection authority and national cybersecurity agency.

A hacker using the alias “Indra” has claimed responsibility online, alleging that approximately 37.8 million user accounts were affected across Europe, including in the UK. ManoMano has not publicly confirmed that figure, but has acknowledged that customer data was accessed.

ManoMano says account passwords were not impacted. However, customer service tickets can contain highly sensitive information such as order details, delivery addresses, invoices and attachments.

If you are a UK customer and your personal data was compromised, you may be entitled to compensation. Register your interest today and we will keep you updated if one of our regulated UK partner law firms is able to take a claim forward.

What do we know about the ManoMano data breach?

  • ManoMano says the unauthorised data extraction originated via a customer service provider’s account. Some reports suggest the system involved may have been Zendesk, a widely used support platform, although this has not been officially confirmed.
  • The company says customer data remains intact and was not modified, but it was accessed and extracted without authorisation.
  • Even without passwords, support conversations can provide enough detail for convincing phishing or impersonation attempts. Fraudsters may reference genuine orders or past queries to build trust.
  • ManoMano operates at manomano.co.uk. If you have contacted customer support, your data may be part of the compromised dataset.

Frequently asked questions about the ManoMano data breach

ManoMano is a European online marketplace specialising in DIY, gardening and home improvement products. It operates in several countries, including the United Kingdom, through its UK website.

A third-party customer service provider used by ManoMano was targeted in a cyberattack. An unauthorised party downloaded personal data associated with customer accounts and support interactions.

Potentially exposed data includes:

  • Names
  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Customer support conversations
  • Attachments and related metadata

Support tickets can sometimes contain delivery addresses, invoices or screenshots, depending on what customers shared. ManoMano has stated that account passwords were not affected. There is currently no confirmation that payment card details were accessed through this incident.

Support tickets often contain contextual detail. That might include order numbers, delivery queries or billing discussions. Criminals can use this information to create highly targeted phishing emails or impersonation scams that appear legitimate.

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, organisations must implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. If it is shown that inadequate safeguards led to unauthorised access — and you suffered distress or financial loss as a result — you may be entitled to seek compensation.

Whether a claim is possible will depend on:

  • What data was exposed
  • How the breach occurred
  • Whether appropriate security measures were in place
  • Whether you suffered financial loss or distress as a result.

No. Registering simply means you’ll receive updates. If a law firm later takes on the case, you’ll be given the option to learn more about the process and any potential costs before deciding whether to take part.

A group action claim allows people affected by the same issue to take action together. This strength in numbers helps stand up to big organisations. Join the Claim helps connect people with law firms so these actions have a real impact.
