Anxious young woman checking finances online after LV data breach

LV (Liverpool Victoria) data breach: what we know so far

A possible data breach involving Liverpool Victoria (LV) has been listed on breach-tracking platform BreachSense, dated 4 November 2025.

The report names LV — one of the UK’s largest financial services providers — as a victim of a data breach linked to the CL0P ransomware group. CL0P has claimed responsibility for a series of large-scale cyberattacks on global organisations, often using data theft and extortion to pressure victims into paying ransoms.

While the report offers no specific information, LV’s business involves managing customer data across insurance, investment and retirement products. If confirmed, the types of information at risk could include:

  • Policy and account details

  • Names, addresses and contact information

  • Financial correspondence or claims data

  • Identification or policy reference numbers

At present, there is no evidence that any customer data has been accessed or leaked. However, even though the report is unverified, it’s sensible to take basic precautions:

  • Check for official updates: Visit LV’s website or verified press channels for accurate information.
  • Be alert to scams; Fraudsters sometimes exploit news of potential breaches to send fake “security” messages.
  • Change your passwords if you have an LV account or related online profile.
  • Monitor your credit report and bank statements for unusual activity.

If it’s later confirmed that personal data has been exposed, affected individuals may be entitled to claim compensation for any distress or financial loss.
